Night Texture

Post #1by Rassilon » 19.05.2002, 07:01

Heres a bug with the texture that is showing up in my version of Celestia 1.2.4

Under
Win 2000
GeForce Ti200 64 meg latest drivers etc..etc...
Intel 1.5 gig

I have tried changing the texture but this happens it seems with all night textures...Also changing bit depth and screen resolution does not help...The only thing that does is turning off Night Textures...

^ I also am noticing this spotting in white when I enable eclipse shadows and view moons eclipsed by thier parent planet...
I'm trying to teach the cavemen how to play scrabble, its uphill work. The only word they know is Uhh and they dont know how to spell it!

Chris I am noticing this on all the textures no matter the resolution...no matter what is enabled or disabled...Its small red flashing splotches on the surface textures and black ones on the night side textures...Eclipses are looking wierd when night textures are enabled...

The textures I notice so far are JPEGs only...PNG clouds are affected by the wierd eclipse shadow distortion though...

Ok I got an idea and acted on it...On the regular surface textures...If they are uncompressed greater than 8 in photoshop that causes the blotchy red spots flashing across the surface...8 is crappy so maybe this can be fixed...8 or less seems to clear this up...

Nighttextures though remain unaffected even using PNG format, they still cause the flashing black blocks in vertical grouped stripes...Compression in JPEG does not affect this either...This must lie elsewhere...
