PSR B1620-26/M4 Addon

Post #1by Rassilon » 26.07.2003, 18:01

Ive redone the pulsars to appear more 'solid' instead of disappearing behind the stars they cover...but I still dont like them very well...There will probably be yet another update to the pulsars in the future...Otherwise enjoy...

Nice job Rass

I like your new light effect from the pulsar, I take it you're wanting to show the light fading and dispersing the further away it gets from the source? - a very difficult task, as I've just found out in trying to create a floodlight effect for the light on the smaller camera on the Canadarm!

In your old pulsar model for the light beam did you use a series of models joined together but with increasing amounts of transparency? Thats what I tried for my light beam but it didn't look too good, so I abandoned the idea!

Anyway good to see you back

Regards
TERRIER

It was a long time, Ras'... but it's worth waiting !

It seems what you experimented with the "Rosetta" has been successfully achieved ! Very nice work.

However, I had to rename the pulsar jet (from PSR B1620-26 to HIP 645000) to get it work. Maybe because I'm using celestia 1.3 ?

Thanks for your work. Your comeback is astonishing !

Thanks everyone...

The effect of the pulsar was unsatisfactory due to the reason you mentioned TERRIER, It seems that when I use a cylinder wrap instead of a spherical wrap on the jets theres this annoying ring on the outer edge of the jets...the cylinder wrap is the better of the two as for looks other than that....Im working on a better model as we speak...
