Shenzhou 1 to 6

Post #1961by DaveBowman2001 » 12.01.2023, 01:39

Untitled.jpg
The Shenzhou spacecraft is a Chinese crewed spacecraft developed under Project 921, which started development in 1992. It resembles the Soyuz in design, but noticeably larger. It first flew unmanned in 1999, and it carried its first taikonaut to space in 2003 during its fifth mission. Since 2021, the Shenzhou is the primary transport vehicle for taikonaut crews to and from the Tiangong Space Station

Shenzhou 5
October 15, 2003
- Yang Liwei became the first taikonaut in space
- China becomes third country to send people to space on their own after the USSR and USA

NOTES:
- This addon features only the first six flights of the Shenzhou program from 1999 to 2006, where its design is vastly different than its modern counterpart, as the orbital module has extra solar arrays and had no docking port installed.
- The model is created by modifying the Shenzhou from Sirius_Alpha's Tiangong Space Station addon and replacing its orbital module with Jack Higgins' Shenzhou 5 addon
- A separate addon for Shenzhou 7 is currently being co-developed with Sirius_Alpha!

I'm currently doing a full "reboot" of the entire Soviet Space Program-related add-ons from the early space probes, Salyut/Almaz stations, Mir, and the future missions like ROSS, Orel, etc.

More details are posted on the Celestia Discord every 1 or 3 days....screenshots for some of the current progress will also be posted here in a few days

This is the longest thread on this forum, having run for 5 years and almost 100 pages. To keep things manageable I've created a new thread; I'll try to collect links to spacecraft addons in the first posts of it. Please post new addons there.

NEW THREAD IS HERE
