juno has some of the most detailed images of jupiter (and ganymede)

This should be considered as a release in the future, though it needs to work on Earth with its oblateness used.john71 wrote:I used this merged texture:

Should definitely be considered a future update, though hopefully the resolution's good.john71 wrote:Jupiter with new texture (even more detail):
Celestia Origin uses an 8K Jupiter texture.

I have two problems considering the release of my add-ons:
1.) they are getting better every month, yes, the same ones
2.) I'm lazy to check the legal status of the textures (releasing or distributing them is NOT personal use).
Added after 3 minutes 42 seconds:
By the way the Jupiter texture is 32k, upscaling is the main trick to get better quality textures.

The situation is not that tragic, but can be annoying.

The license allows you to redistribute the texture as long as you give credit to the original author.

No one said that, and as said above it's not true.
Eric Nelson wrote:Well these textures should've had the copyright issues mentioned ahead of time.
Eric Nelson wrote:Yes and it would be better to just note everyone about the copyright status in the post about the textures in the first place.
There wasn't a download link for the texture or anything, just an image of it, and he did provide the link to the original source.

OK, but as I said, I don't have the time to sort it out with every layer and every piece of image I used.

I think most NASA images are free, but you have to check this too. I don't have time for this right now.

And my main reason is this:

credit is always needed so a artist does not think you just stole there work

CZ Hydrae, an M-type red supergiant located in the constellation Hydrus.
It's located 560 ly from Sol and estimated to be 986 x Sol's radius and is one of the coolest stars known to man, with a surface temperature of only 2000K.
Added after 2 hours 9 minutes:
HV 986
HV 986, an M4I-b red supergiant in the Large Magellanic Cloud.
Its radius is currently estimated to be 1010 x Sol's or 1% above 1000 solar radii.

V358 Cassiopeiae
V358 Cassiopeiae, an M3I-a0 red hypergiant 3.659 kpc from Sol in the constellation Cassiopeia.
Despite its hypergiant status, it's only 1043 x Sol's radius based on current estimates, making it the second largest known member of Cassiopeia.
