Until your inspiration leaves, I would like to see new versions of "Hubble", "Spitzer" and "Mariner 2". Although the list of spacecrafts with poor models is wider.

I sent him a link to a more detailed model of Spitzer some time ago; perhaps he could work with that.

....

   ... Guys... really it's not about inspiration, it's about free time.... but of course an inspiration I need too...

Yes, I have a good Spitzer model and I worked with it... The model is 70% ready... I also thought about building a new model of Mariner 2, but it's for later...
In later plans is a model of space telescope NeoWise...

about Hubble... Yes, the current model is with a lot of visual bugs... but I don't have Hubble on my list for next two months...

Even the current ISIS model in your Celestia with a visual bug... but I fixed it in last month,,, now everyone can download it here...

Working on ESA's Solar Orbiter (SolO)....model from http://scifleet.esa.int/#/model-downloads.
As gironde initially pointed out last year:
gironde wrote:...The Esa site model is not viable.
This was because the textures are oriented in the opposite direction. To properly render it in Celestia, the images must be inverted (i.e rotated twice to the right and then flip to horizontal once). As of today, there are still some unnecessary transparent parts on the back of this model (not visible in the screenshot) that needs to be removed

Work just for one or maximum two hour... I think you will make it, DaveBowman2001... and you can try to build a new models of Luna-10 and Venera-9 lander... from the zero... this work also just for 5 or 6 hours... and you can build models like in pictures below...
but these you posted is too low quality and contains a visual bugs...

Thank you for the advice, toutatis! Right now, I haven't quite mastered 3D modelling yet beyond converting models, and a little scaling and moving mesh groups, but I'm doing the best I can in learning more. There are visible visual defects on most of my previous work, though I'm not sure how to fix it yet.

Solar Orbiter (SolO)

Post #1549by DaveBowman2001 » 18.06.2021, 05:19

The Solar Orbiter (SolO) is a Sun-observing satellite, developed by the European Space Agency (ESA). SolO is intended to perform detailed measurements of the inner heliosphere and nascent solar wind, and perform close observations of the polar regions of the Sun, which is difficult to do from Earth, complementing the findings of NASA's Parker Solar Probe

TIMELINE (HORIZONS data):
- 2020-Feb-10 = Launch
- 2020-Dec-27 = Venus (1) = 7,310 km
- 2021-Aug-09 = Venus (2) = 8,030 km
- 2021-Nov-27 = Earth (1) = 614 km
- 2022-Sep-04 = Venus (3) = 6,935 km
- 2025-Feb-18 = Venus (4) = 240 km
- 2026-Dec-24 = Venus (5) = 590 km
- 2028-Mar-18 = Venus (6) = 373 km
- 2029-Jun-10 = Venus (7) = 457 km
- 2030-Sep-03 = Venus (8) = 2,640 km

Pioneer 6, 7, 8, and 9

Post #1550by DaveBowman2001 » 19.06.2021, 10:51

Pioneer 6, 7, 8, and 9 were space probes in the Pioneer program, launched between 1965 and 1969. They were a series of solar observatories designed to obtain measurements on a continuing basis of interplanetary phenomena from widely separated points in space. A fifth (Pioneer E) was unfortunately lost in a launch accident. The probes were designed to last only six months, but all spacecraft functioned incredibly well for decades, with Pioneer 6 being decommissioned in December 2000, 35 years after launch!

In this mod, the orbit data for Pioneer 6 and 8 were retrieved directly from HORIZONS data, while the orbits of 7 and 9 were constructed from general information published in the NSSDC Archive. The ZIP contains only SSC files, download the model and textures from this site in the Motherlode.

Mariner-Mars 1969

Post #1551by DaveBowman2001 » 20.06.2021, 08:55

Mariner 6 and Mariner 7 were two unmanned NASA space probes that completed the first dual mission to Mars in 1969 (dubbed the Mariner-Mars 1969) as part of NASA's wider Mariner program. Their primary mission is to follow-up the studies conducted by Mariner 4 in 1965, and it is on their encounters with Mars are when scientists found out that the "Martian canals" mistakenly seen from Earth were just dark features on the Red Planet.

A huge thank you to pedro_jg for helping me create the XYZV trajectories for these two twin spacecraft, which are based on the SPICE data found here!

It's about time this new addon of Mariner 6 and 7 was needed for Celestia.
Too bad Celestia origin doesn't have that in the spacecraft folder.

That's because it wasn't made yet. Most spacecraft addons included in Celestia Origin were first published in this thread. They'll post it in their development threads if they added new addons from time to time

Updated model for Solar Orbiter....the panel struts are fixed
First upload from this post is now obsolete...

Added after 1 hour 11 minutes:
Model of Philae updated...mesh is darkened to better see its features, and renamed to philae-landed.cmod to avoid overwriting the stowed version in the Rosetta addon. Two identical versions, one for Celestia Origin, and the other for standard Celestia users were included. First upload from this post is now obsolete

yup modeling anything, even a known object with known elevation, or modeling a simple asteroid is very interesting

Queqiao

Post #1557by DaveBowman2001 » 23.06.2021, 13:03

Queqiao is a lunar communications relay satellite launched by the China National Space Administration (CNSA) in 24 May 2018 to facilitate and support the landing on the Far Side of Chang'e 4 seven months later in January 2019. The spacecraft took 24 days to reach a halo orbit about 65,000 km from the lunar surface. Its purpose is essential to the whole mission of Chang'e 4 and its rover, Yutu-2, since direct contact with Earth at their location is impossible.

Please note that Queqiao's simulated orbit in this addon is entirely fictional, and it's kind of "unstable" from 2020 onwards

Requires Sirius_Alpha's Chang'e 3, 4, and 5 addon for the textures
