One of my own Saturnian-like planets named Fidon, as seen from Torkala, one of its moons:

Been into Astronomy since the age of 3 or 4. Started making planetary textures back in late 2016. 3D animator who makes high quality animations in Cinema 4D. Likes to sometimes, deliberately torment myself with the stupid green screaming apatosaurus that is Arlo.

Can you supply an addon for MK2?

Hi all

Quick Earth view

Texture is NASA Blue Marble September map adjusted to 16k DDS

Clouds are NASA Fair-Clouds-8k, I applied a drop shadow to get the 3D effect. And they are moving.

Tracking satellite in real time.. very relaxing!

Two views of Jupiter following Juno...

Jupiter map is from

https://www.planetary.org/space-images/merged-cassini-and-juno

Adjusted to 16k DDS, still a work in progress... enhanced colour to my personal taste ( I did look at the Juno gallery!)

Very nice bh! Thanks for the texture link! I made a fictional gas giant out of it.

Help! How can I scale normal map heights? This picture down below has a normal map in it but the shadows are unreal in my opinion. BumpMap and BumpHeight are not working, only NormalMap...

Bump height is set in the objects SSC file.

Yes, but it's not working. If I use BumpMap, there are no shadows.

Hi bh, your modified NASA Fair-Clouds-8k are very nice.
Can you make them available, please?
Are there in higher resolution, 16k or 32k, to be converted in VT format?
Thanks a lot, appreciated.

I had to use Gimp to create a new normal map to reduce height. I also reduced the noise level of the texture.

I started to use real Martian elevation data to perfect the normal map. There are clouds now:

The moon is still interesting though, just not as much as some other bodies.

Very nice! I colored and enhanced the black and white Viking data to create a 64k map. It can provide details from 30 km.

And to demonstrate how GOOD Celestia is, here is the same spot at Google Earth-Mars (screenshot is used under fair use rules, the public data is from state agencies):
Googler Earth Mars.png

Added after 5 minutes 51 seconds:
A 128k Celestia Mars map would be at the same level with Google Earth-Mars, but the resolution is comparable even now.
