A little more work and I could have done a better version of those textures but I dont think your computer handles bumpmaps and speculars I think...so I suppose those will do ;)

Can you explain to an uninnitiated person what these monsters are? Are they supposed to fly? I have never seen such objects anywhere...

Dune's spaceships, I guess.

But since I can't remember this kind of spaceship in the Lynch's movie, it must to be a free adapation of the Herbert's book

I think this ship could be a transporter of the guild for the really huge guild ships 8O like this

http://mitglied.lycos.de/bonicehunter/pics/dune/dune6.jpg

There are no documents (I think so) for any ship of the Dune Universe :!:
So my fantasy is really creative and the result is this ship :D

i will add newer pictures of this model tomorrow

fantasy is the engine for all my ships 8)

Fridger,

It sounds like you may not have read the book "Dune" by Frank Herbert. There were quite a few sequels and at least two very long TV movies made from it. I'm not sure I'd call it "great literature", but it's certainly one of the better science fiction books available. It tied with Roger Zelazny's "This Immortal" for the Hugo award as the best sf novel of 1966.

Selden,

Are you sure about the two movies ? I remember the Lynch's one, but even after looking for another one at IMDB, I didn't found anything about this mysterious unseen movie.

Ooh, and about great literature; from the first to third book, it's quite adventure playground. But from the fourth, it begins to be philosophical enough, and really well written. Depending your tastes.

And about the plot : on the space opera, Herbert had the capacity to create a whole universe very lively, very _realistic_  .

A must read for the science fiction addicts.

Psykotik,

I'm sure that there was a non-Lynch version shown on the Sci-Fi channel...
Yup: Google turned up lots of pages about one they showed in December of 2000. E.g. see http://www.wordfire.com/news/duneseries.html

They made another one titled "Children of Dune", so that makes three.

Fridger,

You don't have to.

The "director's cut" version of the Dune mini-series (all 5 hours of it) is available on DVD from your favorite European DVD outlet. e.g. edirectory.co.uk lists if tor 14.99 UK.

However, most of the reviews were, shall we say, less than favorable. Caveat emptor.

I didn't searched for a tv show. I was looking for another long play movie... wait, not necessarily so long than the Lynch's one

I thought Lynch's version was an "Abomination" :)
The first TV series, in my opinion, was much truer to the book. If you are a Sci-Fi fan it is worth watching.
.... is there anybody out there?
