Hi all...
Just wanted to let you know that the name "Brain-Dead" Bob is a good one.
After having worked on a new tour of Venus for a while this afternoon, I noticed that
*every* tour I've done since Mars, has contained an error in the cel code.
To wit: renderflags { set "cloudmaps|eclipseshadows" }
Was typed as: renderflags { set "cloudmapse|eclipseshadows" }
Note the extra "e" after the cloudmaps terminology. Apparently no one has ever
seen that this code was not working correctly? Probably for the same reason that
*I* never noticed it... I always have my cloudmaps turned on...
At any rate, I've updated *all* of the tours on my website so that they should
perform as expected now. My profuse apologies for the error.
Now you know why I'm called Brain-Dead.
If you don't want to re-download one of these tours, simply open each tour with
Notepad - or whatever text-editor you use - and DELETE the offending "e" from the
renderflags definition.
Again, my apologies...
Take care, Bob

Celestia for the brain-dead
Hello Bob.
I could not reach the link http://home.woh.rr.com/bhegwood/ which should take me to your tutorial. This link appears on Celestia´s "Document Writer's Web Sites" at http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/documentation.html.
Thank you for your attention.

I noticed, it's over 15 years since Bob's post was made. And only now a reply came. Are you sure you're not a spambot?

I also noticed this, but it looks like very old post discovered by very new user, nothing unusual on the Internet forum
Still formally developer, but too tired to develop. I feel sad, but Celestia is going forward despite it.

Well, I'm keeping watch on it, lest that "new" poster edits his post and creates links. We all know we have to strengthen our anti-spammer defenses.

Lafuente_Astronomy,
No spambot!
Yes, it might be 15 years old but, like I said, the link to Bob Hegwood´s post appears on a not so old page to which my link points: "Celestia Documentation (Manuals and Guides)". In this page´s last section, named "Document Writer's Web Sites", there is a broken link on Celestia Motherlode´s documentation catalog. I guess Mr. Hegwood edited his site and the document I wanted so much to read, "Celestia for the Brain-Dead" is no longer available.
Thank you for your attention, folks.

You're welcome. And thank you for proving yourself an actual member and not a spam account or spambot. We've had a huge Spambot problem since the beginning but it's only now that we've realized it's bigger than we thought, so forgive my initial suspicions

Thank you for your kind welcome!
I am an amateur astroimager with so much to learn and just very happy for that: learning is my hobby. I am also a retired associate professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. I was hooked into Astronomy while working towards my PhD at the University of Georgia in Athens/GA, from 1983-1988. Halley's Comet was the bait. I am at 19o 57´10.22" S / 44o 15´ 6.58" W.
Cheers from Brazil!

Nice! Perhaps you can give us some of your understandings as an Amateur Astronomer to Celestia.
