Good news for GNU/Linux users too lazy or unskilled to compile Celestia themselves.
Munix9 has provided builds of Celestia 1.7.0 snapshots in AppImage format, currently they are provided for testing purpose. Please follow instructions in https://github.com/CelestiaProject/Celestia/issues/333 how to use and how to solve possible issues.
AppImages are available for testing

It works fine, but has two problems, the drop down menus display white text causing the wording to disappear in Mint plus stars don't render in any styles.
