Motherlode

Post #1by Chuft-Captain » 02.02.2019, 07:58

Does anyone know who is running the Celestia Motherlode these days?
I just wanted to get a message to them that the website is currently broken.

It appears that although the website is up, clicking on any addon link gives a Database error.
(Looks like website is UP, database is DOWN.)

(First time I've visited in a long time so I don't know how long it's been like in this state.)

Well it has been like his for over 1-2 months! Not sure why, so I hope that it gets fixed.

The most likely scenarios are:

1. That since the Celestia Forums became more popular for addons (I'm not sure if that's the case, but I feel like this is happening), the people who maintained Celestia Motherlode forgot to check the database!

2. Since the main dev was replaced, there was no-one to take care of Celestia Motherlode, so it was not ready for that.

CC and Gurren,

Exactly what links aren't working for you?
I can try to report them to the people who manage the site.

I just did a quick test and all of the links that I tried worked fine for me. Of course, that's 16 hours after CC was having problems. Also, I'm in the US, which might or might not be relevant.

Selden,

FYI, ... no addon links (i.e. click on the magnifying glass) are working for me:

An error occured
Most likely the DB-server is currently unreachable. The administrators have been notified. Please try again, and if the problems persists please come back later.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

I've already discussed the problem with Fridger a while ago. If I remember correctly, it was a problem with ibiblio.
If you see that I made a dumb or nonsensical post years ago, please forgive me in advance.

Selden,

Besides the addon links CC mentioned, the newest addon page isn't working as well!

Many people (including me) have really noticed that the Celestia Motherlode is nothing but dead. I've tried submitting addons, but only one got a response; and that was like 7 weeks after submitted that addon (I remember it was long time.) So, the final answer to the question "Is the Celestia Motherlode dead?" is yes.

Joey P., stay on topic. This is not a place to talk about TV shows, only Celestia. If you do this again, I will report you.

Sorry, I was just commenting on the Celestia Motherlode's death. Of course, the TV shows weren't meant to be the topic of the post.

I'm sorry. I understand you were comparing it to something else.

That's okay. But the main thing is that the Celestia Motherlode is dead.

I remember when this forum was down for ~4 to 5 years, from the end of 2012 (I had many memories of this site back then before my account) to 2016. I created this account in 2017, when I found out that this site was back up.

Considering that the Motherlode is dying, I think the forum will also become the second main repository of Celestia's addons.
