Some ideas!

1) How about creating an shortcut key to get the exact co-ordinates of the selected object and save them to a file, so it will be easier to create xyz files, when a spacecraft should colide with an planet :)!
2) Enter in the "celestia.cfg" file commands to be able to set the *.dsc files dir., the *.ssc files dir. and the *.xyz files dir., or make celestia search for the *.xyz files in the "extras" folder to!
3) Uuu, almost forgot, make the celestia url possible to be select in the about window :)!

bug!
If i'm watching IO and then i select Jupiter and i press "C" then "F" (verri fast) the distance to jupiter is -65400, and i can see only the stars :))! (sorry it should be in the celestia bug section but don't have time for that!, it woun't happend again)!

This is a strange bug... it happens with the moons of any planet. Go to any moon, click on the planet, then press c and f and suddenly you find yourself in the middle of the planet.

It does not happen only with moons but with all objects when you press F while the centering is not finished.

I always (erroneously?) started from the presumption that computer users are /responsible/ people;-), which is to imply that key sequences are to be pressed in sensible time intervals, for example...

PS: Another user the other day beamed himself 100000 light years (!) away from earth by means of a continuous key press and wondered why the light time delay ('-') calulation made the clock go crazy;-)

Some other ideas

When we travel at high speed, why not show the doppler effect on the star's light colors?

Are stars moving around the centre of the galaxy?

If yes, when we center a star so far, and then we travel to it, we will see the star moving to the current position, 'cause more we are near to star, then more the star appears in the "current" position...

Of course there are a number of very important physical effects still on our shopping list, including relativistic phenomena. Soon or later they will be incorporated.

So far they are missing, however, and we should take this into account by means of sensible operation of celestia;-)

Well, there have been ~40000 visits/downloads since last August on that site;-) Most of the textures are high-quality and BIG, including earth, mars, jupiter, pluto, europa.

Meanwhile, however, the recent Celestia versions admit many new features with respect to texture display, and thus my TexFoundry is planned to be thoroughly updated, as soon as Chris reactivates the CGI code.
Notably, there have been many planetary reorientations (by Grant H.) which means that the respective old textures should not be used anymore.

Tomorrow, however, is my last holiday, and thus the update may now be substantially delayed, since, apparently Chris has not found the time to get things working again. Since this mailbox has been hacked, I keep getting 3-5 requests/day by private email concerning reactivation of the TF...Sorry.
