Have you replaced 'starnames.dat' with the file that came with the zip?

the newer versions do not include starnames.dat...read the readme for further details...

You will also need Celestia 1.3.0. pre6 in order for it to work...

or follow the directions on my old site to get the files to work...
I'm trying to teach the cavemen how to play scrabble, its uphill work. The only word they know is Uhh and they dont know how to spell it!

Rassilon, after my recent disaster I'm trying to reinstate my NGC 1999. I have the 'V380.stc' and ssc file in my extras diretory but still can't view the nebula. The Rosetta nebula is working fine.

Any tips...bh.

try http://63.224.48.65/celestia/files/ngc1999.zip

(edited to fix the url: this zip file contains only what is needed to display the nebula by itself: its DSC, model and surface texture.)
