The screenshot shows not a ball of threads, this is the orbit of the Earth's satellites, but the Earth itself is not visible. It's more convenient to watch satellites.

This became possible with the new "View / Hide" tool

I put in place the 2 Celestia addons that differ in the center of mass of the orbit.
Toutatis: Sun center (HORIZONS) name Rosetta (Toutatis)
Gironde: Earth center (HORIZONS) name Rosetta (probe)

The step of the timeline is the same: 1 day, and the start and end dates are the same.

It can be seen that the position of the 2 Rosetta is practically the same in space. The slight differences are due to the rounding of distance.

On this image taken in Celestia, we can see:
orbit by Toutatis in yellow (Sun center)
orbit by Gironde in green (Earth center)
orbit of 67P in red (Sun center)

:hi:

Added after 3 minutes 30 seconds:
Yes Croc, the button 'Obj.VIEW' is very convenient :hi:

@Toutatis thank you very much.
I guess it will not be possible to tune a little more. Anyway, this is a little closer to reality. Good job!

The model of the Viking is amazing! I congratulate you and thank you very much for your effort.

Thanks, jujuapapa... Yes, that's all orbital data ( but not orientation and rotation ) that I found from archives... and also I used mathematic... but about current orientation and rotation of "Vikings" or if they is still alive and still in the orbit around the Mars only God can give true answers...

Thanks for the model. I've tried it and it looks great. Great job! @Toutatis
It's a shame not to have orbital data for the entire mission. Hopefully someday.

Bravo, @toutatis! The resulting refinement is a million times way better than the original Orbiter 2006 model!

But, have you noticed a file named "bioshield.msh"? It is the part jettisoned shortly before the Lander is sent to Mars, and I think it would be great to add it too.

Many thanks by the way for completing Project: Viking to Mars
