In a recent show on Discovery Chanel Sci, was broadcast a documentary about "Hubble Mission". In this program, they spoke at length about James Webb with 3D simulations. The telescope was pink below.

see : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunshield_(JWST)

The layers of the sunshield provide an insulating layer for the optics and help dissipate heat. The shield has 5 layers and is roughly the size of a tennis court. Each layer is as thin as a human hair and is coated with aluminum for reflectivity. The purple color of some layers comes from the material silicon, which helps the shield be tougher and reflect heat and is the same material in most computer chips. The telescope uses the sunshield to stop itself from being warmed by infrared radiation from the Sun and other nearby planetary objects, which would otherwise inhibit normal operations of onboard instruments.

jujujuapOpa,,, this model was accepted by NASA... and no one cares here what you think, idiot... lol... Know, all 3D models in any simulators, programms, games, all objects... the models of the planets, stars, galaxyes and the models of spacecrafts too, is an artist concepts... You are funny... No one can copy 100% ideal models, even Hollywood... lol... so stop spreading the stink here...
when u will create even a small 3d model of something, we will give you chance to argue here...

I have 3d model of Parker Solar Probe... and XYZV-file from HORIZONS... I will work with it after successful launch of this spacecraft...

Many 3D models of spacecrafts are ready already... but waithing for successful launch...

Hi. Just a clarification, the color of the lower shield on James Webb Space Telescope is not "pink", it's "lilac".
Here

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilac_(color)

you can find the "Coordinates" of this color, i.e.
Hex triplet #C8A2C8
sRGBB (r, g, b) (200, 162, 200)
CMYKH (c, m, y, k) (0, 19, 0, 22)
HSV (h, s, v) (300°, 19%, 78%)

Lilar color palette.png
Lilar color palette.png (2.89 KiB) Viewed 8709 times

and of its "Variations", i.e.
Pale lilac
Bright lilac
Rich lilac
French lilac

My little cent.

thank Goofy

our representations of the satellites and probes certainly have exaggerated colors and your remark can make it possible to qualify the shade of JWST for those which it sorrows.

For those who want this modification it is enough to edit the cmod file in cmodview, to select the zone concerned and to modify the shade of color:
Material Editor / Diffuse

When the setting is complete, do not forget to save the modified file. (File / Save)

this operation is quite simple to perform

Hi Gironde.
Sorry, but I don't understand if you like or not that I and some other people here are trying to give a little help to you 3D gurus, in order to have your big, difficult and very appreciated addition to Celestia of many missing spacecraft, the most alike the real thing.
In your message, I understand:

1- This is what has been done;
2- it's OK as it is;
3- if you want something else do it yourself.

I don't have cmodview, neither any 3D software, and even more I don't want to start now to learn 3D modelling, I'm too old, but I can see discrepancies and try to suggest (I repeat, "suggest") how to solve them. :smoke:
If this is not appreciated, never mind, I'll use my time for something else, and will do what most of people here are doing... nothing else than passively waiting for new things done by you and other people like you, most of them well done, but some not so good!
Just clarify, to avoid misunderstandings and waste of time, please.
Thank you.
Bye
Goofy
