Hypothetical Bodies

Post #1by Anthony_B_Russo10 » 06.08.2018, 20:40

This adds the hypothetical Planet 9 and 28 bodies that represent the Oort Cloud. The 28 bodies are near the edge of Celestia's render limit for bodies bound to the Sun.

Now has more hypothetical bodies. Earth Trojan and impactor, Theia. Three hypothetical planets, Phaeton*, Planet V, and "Fifth Giant". The extra moons around Earth come from the fact that the ring of derbies most likely form two moons. *=Disproven

Why is Earth around Planet 9?
If you see that I made a dumb or nonsensical post years ago, please forgive me in advance.

That is just something I added in the version on my main laptop, it's not actually part of the addon. So it's just something to ignore.

Possible contribution:

Named all of Planet 9's moons, and added some thin, close rings to Planet 9.
Oh and I made custom textures and medres folders...

A new study from 2018 has revived the Phaeton theory and could have proven it correct - the asteroid belt is the fragments of at least five or six bodies, one of which could have been Earth-sized with the others being planetary-sized moons.

According to best space theory I know, the same is true for all asteroids and comets :hi:
Still formally developer, but too tired to develop. I feel sad, but Celestia is going forward despite it.
Btw, the universe is ruled by electricity.

Wouldn't it be obvious that the obsolete hypothesized 5th giant might be the Planet Nine we are looking for?

Added after 2 minutes 48 seconds:
Here is the source for the revived Phaeton theory: https://newatlas.com/meteorites-asteroids-ancient-planets/55299/

Maybe those planetary-sized bodies could be planet-sized moons (like the Galilean Moons, Titan, or Triton) that collided with a super-Earth due to gravitational perturbations.

A habitable planet 2 AU from the sun? Impossible.
