Celestia & Lua on OSX

Hi all,
Newbie here: sorry if this has been asked before. I was wondering if Lua works with Celestia under OSX. The installation how to's seem to only cover Windows it seems

Celx scripts are actually written in Lua. Those scripts run under MacOS, which is evidence that nothing special needs to be done to install or otherwise make Lua v5.1 work under MacOS if you're installing Celestia v1.6.1. The interpreter for Lua v5.1 is included within Celestia's executable binary.

However, I don't know one would build Celestia from scratch to include Lua under MacOS, if that's what you're asking.
