Next try. I hope everything is fine now, also the smal version should now be less pixelated.
Fenerit, interesting icons. I like the HUD color version, aslo it's design is quite nice.

FarGetaNik, Unfortunately you spoiled one place. The area that I indicated (the gap between the rings. Return the color that has been used previously.
A better, just send me this icon without shadows.

It doesn't get any better if you get angry and repeat yourself. I can provide the last icon (C8) without the color gradient if that's what you want, or I could try brightening up the Cassini (and Encke gap), but that's quite a bit of work to make it look good. The icon you linked doesn't exist without shadows on my computer. Please clarify your point, or I can't help you.

You are getting really annoying, I am just trying to help you. You do waste my time because there always is something you are complaining about and you don't accept anything but your own ideas. I am asking again, what do you mean by "shadow"? Obviosly not the color gradient. The planet's shadow? The shadow of the ring gaps? The dark aura around the rings and planet you requested? Processing these icons is a lot of work and I already invested far to much in it. Do your icon yourself if I cannot guess what you are imagining.
Do you have any idea about what I'm doing? Unfortunately I haven't saved all of my previous icons as gimp projects, so I cannot undo anything. Manipulating the image afterwards will create artifacts and deleting a shadow is not possible in that matter.Alexell wrote:Do not delete color gradient in Celestia-C7b. Please detele only shadows.
As I stated, I am sick fullfilling your requests and I'd propose all of our community should vote on the icon again. Just because you like it, it doesn't mean it's the perfect icon. Color gradients are fine, but this is not supposed to be a beautiful piece of art, but a pictogram that should represent the program. Nowadays, icons are desinged differently, I see a lot of simple, flat icons without much shading or gradients, this gradient in fact blurrs the "C" structure we were trying to emphasize.
Please don't take this personally, but this is going nowhere, so I had to express my point. Here is something which might be closer to what you requested. If not I will start to design my own icons again and experimenting on diferent concepts.
And for the blurring of the structures to get rid of the aliases, this doesn't work to well when downscaling it below the blurr radius (obviously). I came to the conclusion that it is much more effective to blurr the icon by the factor you want to downscale it for the particular layer. I think with this method we could make an icon similar to my C5 without aliases.
To sum it up, if there is a huge disagreement about using an actual image of Saturn (I get the feeling this is the case) we could use an icon that's made of a rendered sphere surrounded by flat rings (with or without radial structures) and everything framed by a contrasting outline. As I stated, I'd like to keep Saturn's proportions because they're close to the golden ratio. For that matter, I am thinking of something similar to this icon by Fenerit, but without the blurr, instead with an outline.

That's what I'm talking about. But I'm looking Celestia-C9 icon on different backgrounds desktop and I can say that it looks good. And I like the dark aura in C9 icon. This is exactly what I wanted to achieve. Do not think that I do not respect your work. I thank you that you made the icon.FarGetaNik wrote:The dark aura around the rings and planet you requested?

Now that's confusing, but if it finally pleases you, I'll let that be. I'm using mostly dark desktop backgrounds, and that's the reason I was unhappy about making the icon so dark (in different ways), on black the "C" fades into nothing.

Thank you it got annoying because of your vague statements and I got the feeling you were getting mad.

FarGetaNik, I think we were just a misunderstanding due to my bad English. I checked the icon by placing several different dark colors. The icon is well visible. Your desktop background just very close to the icon colors, so it can be hard to see. The probability that it will become a frequent occurrence - low.
Celestia-C9 - is new Celestia icon. Once again thank you for the work done.
