Where's the nebula...

Celestia - the best computer software - of any kind - on Earth!

I don't get it. I downloaded your files, and the programs, and
I can't come up with any colored nebulas or anything within
Celestia. Is there a step by step instruction for making this
happen in Celestia. I've only been asking for color in the universe
in Celstia for 2 years. I'd like to see something before I leave
this world.

Also...

Also - I also don't get - I've tried "NGC2244" or "NGC2237" and
even "HIP500000" (after hitting enter) so I can go to these
supposed nebulae, and it doesn't come up? I really must be
missing something here.

I am guessing you have the latest version of Celestia installed? And to use the nebula make sure ssc stc and dsc files are in the extras directory...Textures of course where they belong...models...same...

Generally by extracting the contents of my zip folders directly into celestia's root dir and allowing winzip to overwrite directories should allow you to see the color you so desire ;)

I had the problem with missing nebulae too. I could go to the location but could see nothing. My problem was that I'm running on Linux, where the filesystem is case sensitive. The nebula addons did not work as they came out from zip file. I had to rename the texture images to all upper case letters (as it is defined in the .3ds files). Also be sure to name the .3ds files exactly as they appear in the .dsc

hope that helps

Wonderfull...

I got it - for some reason, I didn't end up with the dsc/stc files in
the Extras folder. It looks great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After waiting all thgis time to see some gaseous color in the
universe in Celestia - I WANT MORE!

Is anyone going to come out with 100 of these - or maybe 1000.
I'm not expert in astronomy enough to create the database for
these. And I hope that these nebula designs will be as close to
reality as possible - like everything else in Celestia.

Incidently, NGC2237 shows up great, but no 2244/2244-2. I'm
assuming it has to do with 2237 having a dsc file, and 2244s only
have stc files. I haven't read what the difference is.

Celestia - the best software of any kind on the planet!
