Mirror of 4-arrows marker in Multiview mode

Post #1by Marco Klunder » 17.03.2013, 11:51

During the development of my Rise/Set addon, I experienced the following issue in Celestia:

In multiview mode, the time in the left screen is different from the time in the right screen  celestia:synchronizetime(false)
In this case, the star Spica is marked and labeled by the marker.
If NO object is selected by Celestia, the marker works perfect left and right in multiview mode for different times :!:

However when I select an Object (in the case shown, Spica again), Celestia also draws the red 4-arrows marker around the selected object.
And here is where it goes wrong in Multiview mode with different times in the views.
The 4-arrows marker is "mirrored" from left to right view and from right to left view 8O
(Only as long as it is occluded (in this case by the Earth surface), it is not visible in the other view).

As far as I can see now, this effect ONLY happens for NON Solar System Objects.

Eg. selecting one of the Planets or the Sun in the above example, does not lead to the same issue.
But selecting a star (like Spica in the above example), immediately shows the mirrored 4-arrows marker.

As I further tested, this has NOTHING to do at all with "synchronizetime" between the different views, NOR something with my add-on.

In fact, it is very easy reproducable:

1. Start Celestia
2. Press the [Ctrl + U] keys to verically split the screen
3. Turn markers on
4. Select a star by [left clicking] on it with your mouse
5. [left-click-drag] with your mouse a bit in one of the views and see eg. the following result:

Until now, not any comment/reaction on this bug :?

I confirm this bug !
"Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin", thought Alice; "but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!"
