Wilbur is pretty simple to use...a lot of what I've done has just been plain old experimentation. Of course, I've followed a couple of the tutorials, but the one I found most valuable was this one:

I've made a few B&Ws in GIMP, then moved it over to Wilbur, and proceeded from there. Just fiddle with it, and see what you can come up with. (I'm hardly a computer expert. This is just my 2 cents.)

Re: Fictional planetary maps
Can you do more textures like this one ? With more and larger craters ? And one with a few lava fields here and there ? So it need a night texture too.
Also, I suggest that you use colors with more grays, since we can change the global color of the texture in the SSC declaration. For example :
This is very usefull to define different planets/moons while using the same texture on them !

Code: Select all

BlendTexture true

Fenerit,
did you tried making other textures, with night volcanoes and lava ?

Nope, now I'm caught in the ephemerides, otherwise I lost their control... (I'm lack of brain memory).

Fenerit,
can you do star textures with your app ?
We need some better stellar maps, without all the polar pinch effect (deformations at the poles).

For which purposes? Fictionals or reals? Who knows how are granulated-spotted-winded etc. the surfaces of all kinds of stars? Basilary should be to make only one white texture and then do add/dodge/burn/multiply layer colors like class/type for which I do not have time to pick up colors for. At close encounter all the stars looks in the same manner, being the observer vaporized soon.

Fenerit,
I would like to change some of my default stellar textures. Several are showing ugly polar pinch effect.
What about some textures of volcanic moons with night lights ?
