Hello,
I'm wondering if something has changed on sourceforge...
Until recently, I could easily checkout/update my SVN trunk (using TortoiseSVN) and rebuild Celestia_SVN to the latest revision.
Today, however, I only got below error messages:
When checking in iexplorer, online I just can access the trunk:
So I do not understand what's going wrong here.
Any help
Marco

Re: Error on checkout/update Celestia SVN
Marco,
as a check, I have just updated Celestia (trunk) both via Tortoise under Win 7 64bit and via kdesvn/OpenSuSE 12.1. In both cases things went as usual and the current revision is #5217.
Nothing much has has changed anyway, except Grant's steady updates of exoplanet data. The last one was alf CEN B b
I should mention though that during the past few days there was a persistent problem at SF. It was documented by the SF people and did not allow even accessing the Celestia SVN archive. As of yesterday night for me all problems were gone.

Just to avoid a possible misunderstanding: my updating consisted of downloading the latest Celestia/trunk code onto my machine, not the reverse.
Indeed, after the three "spaceship-spammers" have been banned yesterday and some shatters.net rules were modified, there is no reason for me anymore to hide in lurk mode ( hopefully not just until the next "generation" of ship-spammers will sneak in with different user names and different (proxi-based ) IP numbers...)

No problems on my side either, seconds ago (TortoiseSVN).

Re: Error on checkout/update Celestia SVN
Thanks all,
It looks like there is a (wrong) firewall setting on my computer.
For a moment diabling it, I managed to checkout/update from sourceforge again.
However that's NOT what I want of course, so the firewall is activated again.
Now looking for the reason which firewall setting prevents this ?

Marco,
an active firewall is supposed to act like a (semi-transparent) WALL unless you "drill certain holes" into it. How the drilling works in practice depends somewhat on the specific firewall. ADSL Routers usually offer (hardware) firewalls, Windows, Linux or virus protection software offer (software) firewalls etc.
Normally there is a list where you can enter the "holes" you want to drill: e.g. port numbers, devices or certain application names. Since initially the blocking concerns anything that might want to enter from the internet to your computer, you would have to list e.g. the Secure Shell (ssh) if you want to use it for communication with the SF server. Another standard example is a HTTP-server (from which you might want to download something onto your machine). Here the standard port number that one enters into the exception list is 80.
Often in a given installation there are several firewalls available that might be activated by default (e.g. the Windows and virus protection firewalls as well as a firewall in your router. They can have adverse effects on each other, if incorrectly configured. I always activate only ONE firewall. Namely the fastest one which is usually the hardware firewall in the router. However, if you travel a lot and take a laptop along, then you must NOT forget to activate either the firewall of the laptop's OS or the one from your virus protection software. But usually not both.

Thx Fridger,
I already found it.
TortoiseSVN exe files are now authorized to drill and everything is working fine now.
I think it had something to do with a recent upgrade of my (SW) security center.
Thanks all for the help and thinking.
