The Moon occults Jupiter

Post #1by abramson » 08.09.2012, 17:57

Did anybody else see today's occultation of Jupiter by the Moon? It was beautiful and, for me, it was a long awaited catching up. I remember reading in the newspaper when I was 10 or 12: "The Moon will occult Jupiter by the end of the month". I couldn't see that one, but I distinctly remember the feeling, and the wonder: "how do they know!".

Here's a picture, and the view in Celestia. I made a couple of animated gifs, but they are too big to upload here.
