John,
for comparison, here is 433 Eros as done by ChrisL ('gaskell' data) recently for his Cosmographia.
These asteroids are MUCH more 'light-weight' : Just 1.7 MB for the model and 5.5 MB for the hires normal map (.dxt5nm).

Did it happen to record Don. Edwards' directory as well? I think I recall him mentioning directory issues or something a few years ago before he left.selden wrote:Rassilon's directory on Shatters.net was recorded by the Internet Archive's WaybackMachine.
It's available at http://web.archive.org/web/200807012140 ... ~rassilon/

Maybe. I don't recall what his directory name was, though. If you can find out what it was, let us know. If it was recorded, you can retrieve it by substituting its name in the archive URL in place of "~rassilon".

Now, I don't remember if I added that or if he did, but I thought it was funny. I decided to convert it to absorption values, and got this:
Turned out kinda pretty, didn't it?
On an unrelated note; because I have WAY too much time on my hands...
I completely overhauled the inner Solar System!
All of the terrestrials except Mercury were demoted to Moon status.
Venus:
I also took the time to give Venus a proper Mie atmosphere.
No clouds:
(The Rotation Period for Venus looks funny because I was too lazy to rotate the texture and instead flipped the obliquity and gave it a negative rotation to maintain the tide-lock. )
For Earth:
(I think I posted this one here a while back. )
You can see the Moon in the distance.
And finally, Mars:
With the orbit of my doomsday gas giant, it looks like a lawn ornament.
Looks like that variant has a much more flattened saucer than the standard nebula.bdfd wrote:Around Peliar Zel Alpha, the USS Portsmouth (nebula variant)

It's for better to slice through the space
