About a month ago there was some intense sun activity that caused at least 1 CME. I was thinking at the time when this region comes around again due to the sun's rotation, things would get intense again. That sunspot has dissipated but there is now a new one.
For those of you that watch solar activity, you know what 1429 means. For those of you that don't, it's an intense sunspot that has release 3 CME's in the past week towards earth. The latest happened about 4:00 UT last night. It's expected to cause some intense auroras starting sometime Saturday/Sunday midnight EST and possible radio blackouts. Here are a few links I have been keeping an eye on.

Tomorrow night I hope the northern aurora makes it south enough to catch a glimpse. Supposed to have clear skies. I wish I had accepted that assignment in Maine a while back.

Re: 1429
This spot has gone away. Maybe next month there will be another one? Did anyone from up north see anything? I didn't. wasn't really expecting to tho. too far south. pretty warm here tho. Not sure if there is a connection? spring came early this year.

Apparently, this sun spot is still alive and on it's way back. On another note, someone reported seeing the aurora in Nebraska at space weather.com. Top post for the link. That's pretty far south. Too bad it's been cloudy around here. Still haven't seen any.
