New (fictious) galaxy addon

I'm now releasing the galaxy (with stars) shown on this thread :

http://www.celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=16645

Here are some previews (the planets aren't included in this addon). Click on the two pictures below to get a very large version (2560 X 1600) :

Create your own Space Art cosmic sceneries by adding planets to the numerous Main Sequence stars included in this addon ! If you do use this addon, post some pictures here !

Download link :

http://fsgregs.startlogic.com/Public_Fi ... iverse.zip (5.7 MB)

Read the included readme.txt file for some instructions, and don't forget to use the included CELX script to cycle through the seven rendering states of the galaxy !

Enjoy ! :)

Easy ! You didn't followed the instructions in the readme file ! You need to put the template PNG file in your base models folder before launching Celestia.

Unfortunately, Celestia doesn't recognize the extras/models folder to draw custom galaxies !

As I said in the first post, the planets aren't included in this addon. You need to add your own planets to make your personnal Space Art, cosmic sceneries, etc...

EDIT : This addon is just the "decor" for fictious planetary systems, with a LARGE reservoir of stars to choose from. We can make all sorts of cool stuff, using this decor : an entire galaxy full of stars !

More pictures of the addon published in the first post (again, the planet isn't part of the addon). I reduced the opacity of one of the sprites models.

A lot of the main sequence stars are over-bright for their class. Is this what you meant when you said "semi-realistic" in the readme?

Anyways, here's a screenshot from me:

404. :( I was going to make an addon for this galaxy now that I have a new computer; hopefully I have a copy on a flash drive or something.

EDIT: It's back.

He withdrew his addons from the site, as far as I can tell. Archive.org 's "wayback machine" couldn't find them either.

Sorry. :(
