Neutrino detector like object?

AAARGH

I can't stand it anymore! I'm so confused!

So, I bet most of you guys know about neutrino detector (you know, the strange sphere filled with heavy water to detect solar neutrino). Well, i don't really understand why should we study solar neutrino and oh, I don't need answer cause that's not the point of this whole topic.

And here is the important fact about it:
- It's man-made
- It's underground
- It's big
- And it's impossible to move

To be honest, I know about neutrino detector just a few minutes ago!

But a few years ago, one of my family member download this strange album filled with strange photos. I'm not sure if he remember where he download that album...

What's very interesting (a lot) is this images:

So, I'm just curious and after knowing that it's actually the shape of a neutrino detector i use this web to search where the image comes from. http://www.tineye.com/

Imagine that. Only one page out of uncountable amount of pages out there have that pictures! It's not underground! There's no computer thingy for collecting data. And it's in the middle of nowhere. If it's not man made, then why does it have the same shape with the neutrino thing?

My greatest fear of writing this topic is, knowing that you guys know that it's man-made and it makes me feel stupid writing all this (I'm just curious anyway...). And, I got deja vu writing this... =='

Many scientific detectors are spherical -- that's the most convenient shape to use when you want to detect and analyze signals coming from all directions.

Your second link is to a conspiracy movie site. Without a lot of investigation, there's no way to know how their pictures were created. They all might be just "special effects".

Hi. Could that b/w photo be an hack about the underground placement of such a detector? Maybe such a detector has been assembled on the surface (for better testing of the mechanical/electric parts) and then carried beneath the soil.

If it was like that then it'll be a hard job digging and moving the huge thing underground...

Does anybody watch the movie in the homepage yet? Fake or real it's cool.

And oh, actually making that kind of picture in photoshop is not that hard so yeah, without a serious investigation it's hard to tell it's real or fake...

I would say how it interfaces with the lake and lacks a reflection is a bit of a give-away.

With a bit of basic physics knowledge, it is obvious that it's fake!

The reason is very simple: all neutrino detectors require an enormous shielding against the continuously infalling flux of cosmic rays, since neutrinos only interact weakly. That's why all neutrino detectors are built e.g. deep underground (in old mines), under huge mountain ranges, deep under water (->Antares) or deep down in the South pole ice (->Amanda, IceCube)!


Hence, a ~12 meter detector located on Earth's surface in the middle of the countryside is blatant nonsense.

I have visted all major neutrino detectors for professional reasons during the past decades (except those at the South pole ). I can tell you that the first color image above is real: it's the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) (Ontario, Canada). The ~12 meter sized sphere is filled with heavy water and this detector setup is located about 2000 meters (!) below the ground.

everyone seams to be missing the fact that the B&W images have been processed to look like they are from the 1840's to 1920's
and one has a "ancient astronaut" standing in front and the other has a walk way into it

and that these "authentic " ( haaa haaa haaa - right) have been used as "prof" of visitation by the tin foil hat crowd .
