Finally figured out how to add signature...

Hi Verz, I do not know about the new Vue releases, but are the texture rendered also in flat projections?

For having Celestia with procedural texture creation is matter of GPU calc. How time Vue spend in render your image? Such a render time should be spent in real time for a seamless use of Celestia. Mind when you do toggle the planet. Supercomputer, maybe?

What do you mean about flat projections? The texture is completely procedural I guess. No UVW map used... I use procedural infinite terrain and project it to spherical terrain, and add a planetary cloud. Vue Is pretty impressive, the spectral 3 cloud is very realistic. Uh... the render time... maybe less than 10 minute, I forgot.
In celestia? realtime rendering should be at least 30 fps... this is 0.1 fpm (frame per minute, lol). Maybe 10 years ahead realtime raytracing is possible...

Well, to say, if a rectangular smooth terrain can be viewed from "top" and then seamlessly mapped with a projection which map a sphere. Such a render should be like the usual Celestia's texture. Once exported as 2k, 4k 8k... could be used within it.

Ohhh, I get it. But Vue didn't use UVW, so it's not possible...

If I'm not wrong, there are John V. Vliet tutorials about to make Celestia's textures from plain 2:1k images. You should to take a look here: http://shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=16087 since the tutorial starts with a "generic" plasma texture, maybe similar to your Vue's output, and then is manipulated to achieve the common Celestia's texture.

I have no intention in making texture for celestia. Oh, I think you misunderstand my image is using a texture. The vue planet thing doesn't use a texture. It's a mesh. The closer you get the mountains start to form. So there's no possible way to make that a texture... =P
That's what I like about vue, you can create an entire planet complete with mountain down to a single pebbles. So you can think of my planet as a vue version of Eric Bruneton's proland. lol
P.S. BTW I'm not a noob at creating textures for planet. I know how. But just don't want to.

Absolutely you know what is right for you. You are aware how the procedural, resolution independent, antialiased rendering of the Vue's engine could help in making very detailed Celestia's planetary textures; but unfortunately there are few - when none - programs which makes use of the procedural rendering for 2D planetary-alike texture paint, expecially for free; so I was just wondered whether, at least, the new Vue's commercial versions would have rendered also that space.

Hi! Sorry if I resume this thread, but while was surfing into some 3D sites I found that for Vue there is a module named "Exporter" which allows the texture's unwrapping for being exported; that is, the subject of my concerns, since the Vue's procedural rendering of a 3D object (a sphere, in the case of the planets) can be mapped on a texture. Unfortunately seem unavailable for the xStream version. Just FYI.
