Celestia SVN executables AGAIN...

Well,I wonder if Celestial Matters have not been updated.Because in Celestia Matters SVN Executables,we have the SAME MESSAGE OF CARTRITE,however the message is from december 2008 and we are now in 2011.It?s IMPOSSIBLE that cartrite still didn?t solve the problem!

Please ask questions about Celestial Matters (CM) in that forum, rather than here at shatters.net.

Cartrite is offline (unfortunately)! His last visit at CM was in Oct. 2009 while at shatters.net,
his last visit was Aug 15, 2010, i.e. about half a year ago...

Daniel J,

I guess you'll be p..... off at me until the end of time. :D Do you have any of my textures on your wall that you throw darts at?

To All,

Sorry that I haven't been around but I've been really busy at work up until a few weeks ago and now that I have the time, I don't have the money to rebuild my "Celestia" computer. The computer I had went back to my employer when I got laid off. I was limited in what I could use that machine for. The computer I got now still can't get out of it's own way. A PII. Remember them? 8O About 15 years old.

It's been a tough couple of years. I'm still paying back loans I took while I was out of work during the big recession which accounts for the long delay of my recovery. I still have the interest in Celestia but .............. Hopefully soon I'll get it together.

I'll log into CM soon and clean up/update.
Daniel J, I will not be building any SVN versions anytime soon.

What do you mean with a very sick video card?If not for this,an Athlon64 and a 9800 GT should be good enough for doing something about Celestia...

That machine is beyond repair. I stopped using it last August to try and save the hdd. Someday I may put together another system and try to save what is on the hdd but that will take a while longer.

Now I use a Pentium II 233mhz with 256 MB of ram and it does not have a video card. It can only access email and do some word processing.

I am still making SVN builds for Win32 available (when there is a code change, not very often). The latest is of last week. But there was a fire at my institute in the servers room, so my page is down since yesterday, but will be on-line in the next couple of days. BTW, the informatics and communications service is in the same building as my own office... Fortunately the alarms worked and the fire was put off right away. It was 5 AM, I imagine the watchmen were asleep, it could have been much worse...

Speaking about code changes.. how's development going? Last summer Chris posted some experimental stuff here, but I haven't seen him around here for quite a while, let alone anounce new features.

Actually,Celestia development ?s too slow.I know we have to have patiency, but it is going a little too far.I waited for 3 months and the only addon available was the new rendering of Venus clouds.Everything else has stopped, except fictional addo-ons...

Efforts for the past few weeks have been concentrated on getting v1.6.1 ready for testing.
It'll primarily be a bug fix release, but with updated internationalization (translation) files.

p.s.
A log of updates to the svn archive for Celestia v1.7.0 can be seen at

Here is a summary of the recent coding activities of Chris as listed by himself:

http://www.periapsisvisual.com/

During the past several months, he contributed very actively to the STA project
http://forge.osor.eu/plugins/scmsvn/vie ... /?root=sta

With all these projects, I am afraid he had little spare time recently for Celestia 1.7.x code development and for showing up in this forum.
