Sounds to me like Comcast changed the type of account you had or they are simply changing the way IPs are asingned. I have AT&T cable, soon to be Comcast, and I have always had a timed IP adress. I never bothered to ask for a permanent one because even if you do they change it in a few months anyway. They are real buggers about that out here. I only hope the transition to Comcast goes smoothly and I don't start having more outages and they try and jack up my bill or change the bandwidth. I have heard that they want ot split the conections into various speed catagories. Like a 256k, a 512k, 1mb, and saving the 1.5mb for those customers willing to pay top dollar. I am going to be vary pissed off if they change my conection to a slower one and keep charging me the same. But that is the rumor going around out here. A tyred pay scheme I think they are calling it. With nly those willing to pay like $69.95 a month getting the 1.5mb coection. If this goes in I think I will be getting shafted to a 512K conection for what I pay. This is really going to suck. Oh well DSL anyone? Not me. Even if you paid me to try it.

I might answer a PM or a post if its relevant to something.
Ah, never say never!!
Past texture releases, Hmm let me think about it
Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Don I havent pinged my cable reacently but it was 1.5 MG .
hear are some things to think about with Comcast
1) At least once a day I have to POWER OFF REBOOT the cable modom locks up .
A) Internet Explorer is the worst I end up power off reboot 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 times an HOUR there is about a 75% chance that it will lock up while downloding ---Bad ha--
B) Mozilla is a LOT BETTER once or twice a day i have to power off reboot .
2) There E-Mail SUCKS no junk mail fillters I end up using Yahoo mail and not comcast.net . Only 5 people have the comcast account name but it fills with junk .
so far comcast's "fix" to the cable modom's problem is to power off reboot .This is NOT A FIX
I am cetting a deal on the $ becaus i have basic +some tv cable so i only spend 40$/Mo. for internet

John,
How can you live with rebooting the modem all the time. That would just piss me off. If I were you I would call the service department and demand a new cable modem. That is of course if you are renting one rather then the owner. I was having a similar problem a few days ago and I finaly figured out it wasn't the modem that was having a problem. It was my old Uninterupted Power supply. The battery in the thing had been nearly dead for over a year but I just left it there and used it as a power smoother so to speak. As soon as I removed it everything went back to normal. You might check into your modems power supply. If the modem doesn't get a steady curent that will cause it to lock up. If you haave a good voltage meter you might check and see if the transformer is putting off the rated voltage printed on its label. If it isn't then this is a good bet as to what may be causeing your problem. If its the power supply and you got the modem from COMCAST I would definetly call them for a replacement.
I have never personaly noticed much of a diference between the varoius browsers making a diference when making a conection. But I may start using something diferent for the simple fact that all the Celestia sites, the forum and gallery load very slowly on IE.
