I remember reading somewhere a theory that Earth's magnetic poles have flipped several times in it's history and will do so again in the future
Can't remember however whether this was scientific fact or just some wild theory.
I'm sure a suitable Google will bring up some results. I'll leave it for you to judge.

Here's some results from a swift Google I just did:

They are moving.
It has been measured.
Flipped? Isn't measured but found rocks that can confirm such stuff with some praktical geological knowledge.
However, in the future we could have another flip and measure that.
Will be interesting to see what happens with the people and equipment who are just in the places where it flips.

Re: NEW addons (DOWNLOAD LINKS)
Amazing Add-on Cham. Im new here, and have just been playing around with Celestia lately. In my astronomy class, we just learned about black holes, and the one in the middle of our galaxy. I want to use this add-on, and have a better look for myself. Only problem is im not exactly sure how to install it. Ive placed the textures, and models in the correct folders, and the stc, and ssc files in the data folder. How do I go about running it once im in Celestia? Thanks!
Re: NEW addons (DOWNLOAD LINKS)
BC,
You need to expand the Zip file into the extras directory, which will create the files in the directories provided in the Zip file. Don't put the individual files into Celestia's existing directories.
Please take a look at the Web page
http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celest ... intro.html
It explains how Addons are installed (and created).

Re: NEW addons (DOWNLOAD LINKS)
Ok, I redid the installation of the add-on. I extracted the contents of Sgr A into the extras folder. Everything should be good. I just need to know how to run it once in Celestia. I know how to access the command line, but I don't know what to type. I've tried SgrA, and such, but nothing shows up.

The galactic black hole should be part of Cham's Galactic Center add-on. To go there, hit the Enter key, then type "Galactic Center". Press "Enter" again, then press the [G] key to go there. Once there, hit the Enter key, then type "Sgr A". Press "Enter" again, then press the [G] key to go there. The black hole will zoom in.
Alternatively, the Galactic Center addon comes with a celx script that takes you to the center. Just open the "File/Open Scripts" menu in Celestia, navigate to the location of the add-on in your extras folder, locate the script and click on it.
Enjoy

Re: NEW addons (DOWNLOAD LINKS)
LOTS of "new" addons released. Most of them are invisible "layers" with a toggle CELX script included (use the same script as an ON/OFF switch). Mostly billboards for the moment and one huge 3D model of a galactic interaction. Several older addons too (Earth's craters, Kepler's model, etc).
