Gas Giant Textures?

I'd like to create high-quality gas giant textures from scratch, yet I can't seem to find any tutuorials that show how to do this. Does anyone have any tips/links/etc.?

I found a great program called Filter Forge. It's meant for creating filters for image-manipulating programs, and it's fairly powerful. I'm working on a filter for creating different types of gas giant textyres, and I'm oping it'll win me a free copy of the program (I've got the trial version right now.).
