Apparently .bgl is a format used as a terrain mesh within flight-simulator.
Does anyone know if there are any tools that can convert *.bgl files to 3ds form?
Cheers

Re: Converting *.bgl to 3DS ???
A quick google search reveals that lots of other people want the same thing.
Apparently it's intentionally designed to be not translatable.
I'd suggest contacting the original designers to see if they're willing to provide the model in another format.

Yes, I've already done that search myself... without much success (which is why I was hoping someone here might know something about it).
You may be right, however, I'm not quite as easily convinced as you that it's not possible.
There is a hint (in the second result of that search) that at least one person has been successful on a UNIX or LINUX platform using a FlightGear program called threedconvert.exe: http://ptolemy.berkeley.edu/~cxh/sapub/sketchup.htm.
Unfortunately, I don't currently have a Linux or UNIX install, so I won't be able to try that program.
Thanks anyway...
(maybe someone on a LINUX platform might be willing to try out that threedconvert program to see if it does the job. )
I happened to find a terrain model in *.bgl format which I was hoping to get into celestia, but it's not really a big deal.

PS. Tried to contact designers but their email page is broken.
