Where to learn astronomy?

Hi everyone! I'm not sure if this is the right place for my question, but perhaps you can help me :) I'm looking for a place where I could deepen my knowledge of astronomy. It's always been my hobby, and now that I'm taking a gap year I thought I could find an organisation/ internship/ etc. where I'd work with professionals and learn from them. I've done some research and I know there are many companies specialising in organising all sorts of projects, e.g. this one, organising volunteer projects and internships abroad seems to be very popular. Ideally, I'd participate in a project like the ones offered by this company, but I haven't come across any organisation offering something similar with astronomy. I'd be grateful if you could help me out. Thanks!

How much do you already know? And what subject of astronomy interests you? I'm sure you're aware that astronomy is a huge subject, with subdivisions like galactic science, planetary science, stellar physics, astrobiology, astrophysics, along with ties to nuclear physics and theoretical physics.

I learned most of what I know (which is admittedly not much) on www.arxiv.org and from various forums like this one.
Current Setup:
Windows 7 64 bit. Celestia 1.6.0.
AMD Athlon Processor, 1.6 Ghz, 3 Gb RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

Snowman,

since I happen to have plenty of experience with such things professionally, I could give you good advice, yet I need more specific info about yourself. You can also PM me if you don't want to do this in public.

-- what's your nationality? Many programs depend on that.
-- what's you level of education? Many programs depend on that CRUCIALLY. Good programs are (more or less) competitive, hence you should have something to offer...
-- how old are you?
-- any country of preference?
-- computer skills?
-- marks in your examinations?
