AmigaOS4 version of Celestia released
Re: AmigaOS4 version of Celestia released
Is the horizontal stretch due to using a widescreen monitor, or is it an artifact of the video haaving been uploaded as if it were widescreen, but isn't?
It's amazing that Amiga software has progressed so far with so little vendor support.
Obviously many dedicated people have been involved.
Congratulations!

i don't know nothing about video size because the video is mad by another user, but on my monitor (16:9) all is shown correctly
I would try something huge to se how "slow" is my system.. where i can find some huge textrues??

Well, there's a bug somewhere: the video shows the Sun as an oval. It should be circular.afxgroup wrote:i don't know nothing about video size because the video is mad by another user, but on my monitor (16:9) all is shown correctly

Do you mean large images loaded as a single texture?
When they're applied to its internal spheres (planets & moons), Celestia automatically cuts large textures into smaller pieces that'll fit into the OpenGL texture buffer. It cannot cut into pieces textures applied to 3D model meshes (3ds or cmod). The largest I've seen have been 4K. There's one at the bottom of the page
http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/galaxies.php
There are some 8K planetary maps on the MotherLode http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/
The larger ones there are VirtualTextures. They're collections of small tiles, typically 512x512 or 1Kx1K. They'll test both disk i/o and OpenGL.

Re: AmigaOS4 version of Celestia released
I wish I had a 4.x AmigaOS machine.
I used to have an A4000, but now, I only have an A1200.
Some of my buddies do have AOS 4.1 and I'll definitely let them know!
