screenshot problem

Ok after two years and different versions of celestia why do I get screenshots like this 50% of the time?

Image

I asked somebody about this a year or more ago and was told it's because I'm stupid. Well that answer isn't good enough anymore. What is the cause of this?

I think this sometimes happens when you set the Render => Select Display Mode to a resolution other than Windowed mode. I'm not sure though. I used to get black areas where the window would be but I can't get that to happen any more.

99% of the time I'm running in window mode. Regardless if it's in window mode or not this has a 50-50 chance of happening every time I take a screenshot.
I can't seem to find any kind of pattern to it.

Just my two cents for what it's worth here...

I have never had *any* problems getting screen shots from Celestia
even when using Vista while running it in the 32-bit mode.

Could this be related to drivers again?
Thanks, Bob

I hope it isn't the drivers. Anything past ati 7.1 locks up celestia for me. :(

On my card it does. I use an old AGP x800xl. Anything past 7.1 locks up even when I use their agp hotfix drivers.

dose taking a SS from the OS, and not from with in celestia, cause problems

My card always locks up with celestia if I use a driver later than 7.1
I even tried an omega 7.10 driver. Looked great until I noticed everything locking up.

Oh yeah the print screen way of getting the screen shot works fine. So does using a third party software like fraps. It's only when using celestia's screenshot function that I have this problem.

If it is then I'm stuck with it until I get around to upgrading my computer hardware.
I know the ATI website says the newest drivers should work with my computer but they don't. It always freezes up after a few minutes. I even tried the drivers from the sapphire site, they are the card manufacturer, still no luck though. Have to stay with the old drivers.
