Here's a very rough comparison between the Celestia representation (with some perspective deformations) and the plot in the original paper :
The match is VERY good !

Re: Sgr A* (galactic core)
Martin, after Chris' solution to the Celestia bug showed here:
http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13270
I'm playing with your SgrA* addon, that IMO is absolutely worth the time you needed to produce it.
Doing this, I found that the jets from the black hole are, at least for my taste, a bit too "aggressive", distracting this way the spectator from all the other stuff.
So I tried to make them less evident, and here is the result.
The images have not been modifyed, only resized from 1900 to 800 pixel, with medium quality 7/12.
Dunno if you like it or not, but having no idea on the real visibility or not of such jets and their color, I think we can interpret them as we like.
What do you think?
Bye and thanks a lot once again.

Marvelous work Cham.
Re: Sgr A* (galactic core)
Just to better show how I modified the textures in order to make them "softer" than the originals, here a couple images of the same object.
Click over top see the full size ones.
Tell me what you think, please.

Re: Sgr A* (galactic core)
Personally, I prefer the "vivid" jets. One day, I'll replace them (and the accretion disk too) with some more realistic CMOD with sprites. Currently, the sprites aren't working well in Celestia.
To me, the current black hole model is more like a "diagram" than a realistic object. Take also note that the rotation velocity is way too high in the accretion disk. I made it this way just to impress the audience (students in the classroom) about the real thing that may lie at the center of our Milky Way.

Very well! Good you wrote it I perfectly agree.

There is no problem, Martin, it's only a matter of graphical preferences, no more.Cham wrote:Personally, I prefer the "vivid" jets. One day, I'll replace them (and the accretion disk too) with some more realistic CMOD with sprites. Currently, the sprites aren't working well in Celestia.
Same from my side, obviously.Cham wrote:To me, the current black hole model is more like a "diagram" than a realistic object. Up to now, when showing to students my script "The monsters of Universe", I could only speak of supermassive Black Holes, now I can show what could be the appearance of the space around the one lying at the center of our galaxy.
And this thanks to you, Martin, very appreciated.
Bye

Now that is a VERY good point my friends... Since we have thus far been unable to enter a
super massive black hole and film its contents, Martin's speculative fictions are very good
representations of what may (or may not) be there.
Loving watching this topic, Martin. Keep it up.
Thanks, Brain-Dead

This galactic core addon seems fantastic . Is it possible to hope a next release? I am so impatient.

I'm not sure if the following is what you guys are looking for,
but I'll throw it out here anyway. Click HERE to
see if one of Martin's Black Holes is what you want.

Hi
No luck!
There are several black holes here, but I am especially interested in the system of stars orbiting the galactic core.
Thank you Bob.

Sorry, but I don't think we have one of those yet...
