I'm collecting some info about the Pangea and Gondwana supercontinents. I would love to see an animated model in Celestia, like on these places :

Gondwana model

If you haven't seen it you should check out "How the Earth was Made" by the history channel. It goes though the formation of the earth, to the impact of Theia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_impact_hypothesis though the evolutionarily stage mentioned above to present day. It then goes on to show were the contents should end up in the next few million years. If you have a DVR you should recored it. Its pretty cool. I think its way better then the Universe series.

Re: Gondwana model
Don't know if you've seen his work, but Ron Blakey was receptive to letting me use his maps for Frank Gregario's KT impact addon...
Perhaps if you contact him he would send you the rest. They were all rectangular projections at 3000 x 1500.

Re: Gondwana model
Dr. Blakley has shared all of his maps with me, with permission to use them in Celestia education. Here are two of the maps showing Pangaea and Gondwana:
Let me know if you need a copy.

What is the resolution of these textures ? I'm interested to use them, but only if they are 4096x2048 or more.
Is there a normalMap or a bump, and specular texture ?

Martin:
They are 3000 x 1500 jpg images. There is no spec or normal/bump maps that I am aware of. however, they do display nicely in Celestia.
