This is big, and I need help.
wat I am going to do is recreate the earths creation in celestia with the clever use of start and end dates.
first I need a texture fore earth before it was hit by a huge astiroid
then one right after the impact with a bumpmap to make that hudg creater stand out, then one of pangia to finish it off.
Then I need corect dates of when al this is suposed to happen.
finaly i need to no how close the moon was to the earth as it was forming
and maby a new orbit file to make it slowly moov away.
when compleated it will first hav Earth mk1 then when the asteroid hits it I will end earth mk1 and the astiroid, an replace them with earth mk2 and a close still fourming moon, that will start and end about every month so I can Guiv a larger radius as the moon fourms.
Plus thear will be a thin dust ring around earth while amm of this is happening, and a lot of astiroids flouting around.
When the moon gets farr enoph away I will end that moon earth and astiroids, and replace them with the eath pangia texture, and after that will switch to the present day earth and moon. Earth wouldent hav night lights fore a while not untill I get the date when the light bulb was envented
If any one has this post it, and I will get this done.
PS: Io is suposed to hav briliant arorias if anybody has an Io arouria cloud texture then post it to pleas.
Earths creation in celestia
Primitive Earth and Moon
Hi Auscreely. Although we have not created the Earth from its beginning with impacts and craters, I am two other folks on the forum have just recently created an add-on of the Primitive Earth and Moon as they looked billions of years ago, shortly after the moon was formed from the collision with Earth. The "crater" has filled, both bodies are again round, both are close to each other locked in a huge tidal embrace, and both are extensively volcanic.
The add-on is very good. Unfortunately, it is big. Even zipped, it is over 10 megs, and uses dds texture files, which not everyone can use in Celestia.
I will be placing the add-on on a new website I am arranging for, within the week. Look for it on the forum under the announcement, Primitive Earth".
Regards,
Frank G

Auscreely,
Your idea is a good one but!
Earth wasn't hit by a big astroid it was hit by another planet the size of Mars. The end result was earth was basicly shattered and then reformed. Ergo there wouldn't be an impact crater at all. From what the scientist say the Earth before the collision was almost completly covered with water. So making that texture should be snap for you. Making a texture for Protrus the suspected rouge planet that the Earth is anyones guess. It would need to be made the size of Mars. They speculated that it was posible it had life and it probably had seas itself being that it had an orbit very close to Earth's orbit. Now you can probably program in the collision but of course there won't be any pyrotechnics involved as thats beyond Celestia capabilities at this point. But you should easily be able to make the following.
A texture of Earth Mark I before the impact covered in water. Be sure you make earth just a little smaller than it is now because it going to pick up more material after the impact to reach its present size. Make a texture for Proteus and make Poteus mars size. Do not make a Moon as of yet. The moon was the result of this hybrid union of planets. Make a texture of Earth that is mostly all molten at least on one side. You will have to use some of the ateriod 3D forms for making the debris feild that will go into orbit. Then you can start bringing the debris feild together to start the formation of the moon. Once you have the moon forming you will need texture of a molten moon and so on and so on and so on. You can see this is going to turn into a very major project. I think you might consider getting some help with this project if you can get a few others to join you in this venture. If you go it alone I feel we are not going to be seeing or hereing much from you as you work on this. I wish you all luck in the world.
I thought of doing this project myself at one time, but its just to darn big for a single texture maker to undertake. At least the average one. If you need any input feel free to ask me about ideas. I may be able to through some texture ideas your way.
Again good Luck.

I am officially a retired member.
I might answer a PM or a post if its relevant to something.
Ah, never say never!!
Past texture releases, Hmm let me think about it
Thanks for your understanding.
