I just loaded celestia-win32-1.2.5 on my machine running XP. The download and install seemed normal. When it starts up, I get the opening screen showing Io in motion but as Io flys by XP shuts it down and I get an error report. There is not a lot of opportunity to trouble shoot. I tried removing everything and re-loading, with the same results. Have you heard this one before? Any obvious fixes? What additional information can I provide?
What graphics card do you have and what version of OpenGL is it using?
Have you tried using Celestia v1.2.4?

v1.2.4 works better with older versions of OpenGL than v1.2.5 does. For example, V1.2.5 crashes immediately with OpenGL v1.1 due to problems in Celestia's 3DS rendering code.
