I do not see the problem /at all/ and I have produced many HTML documents in my life even including complicated formulae! It's entirely straightforward and automatic:
Do your text in LaTeX, the only /perfect/ text system;-), and then pipe it into 'latex2html'. No work at all.
Got the wrong OS? Too bad, it's only your fault...;-)

Sure enough, all science guys in your lab are also exclusively using LaTeX.
In fact, LateX can also output PDF instead of Postscript. Just a little reconfiguring.

Here I see a bit of confusion between the file format and its generator...PDF is a open and widely browser-supported format; it doesn't stick with Adobe Acrobat, LaTeX or whatever the app you use.
HTML doesn't well support math formulas without using MathML specification which is still a non-well-supported W3C standard.
I think the better approach is using LaTeX with PDF output...
Ehi t00fri...Do you think there is a right OS? Is this your idea of a open-minded IT world?

User's Guide Part 1 almost ready
HI everyone. I'm pleased to report that the User's Guide Part 1 is almost ready for forum review. Chris suggested that I add some screenshots for each of the Render options. That's been done and the file is on the way to Chris and Fridger for some final editing regarding MAC and Linux, then I assume they will post it here for you folks to examine before it is saved in a final format.
There is no problem saving it in multiple formats, but with over 25 graphical screenshots, it is almost 3 meg in size and is formatted so that the screenshots fit properly. If anyone knows how to convert an MS Word document to HTML and/or pdf without losing placement of formating, please volunteer.

To convert an MS Word document to PDF, you need to install a PS printer, then print to a file using that printer driver. The file you get is in PS, it can then be converted to PDF using ps2pdf.
Or you can use OpenOffice Writer and its Print to PDF feature, but formatting may (will probably) differ from what you get in MS Word.
