no textures displayed

Hi,

I've just downloaded CELESTIA for window XP.
I have started the demo script.
The image of the sun is ok, but for the others planets it seems that there are no textures :
Earth is just displayed as a red circle, same for saturn, the moon...
What is wrong ? :?

After you start Celestia, do not run any scripts...
Type the number 3 and then press the G key to go to the Earth.
What happens? What do you see. Screen shot might help.

EDIT:
Also, just to be certain, open your "Render" and then "View Options" dialogue in the Celestia menu, and make certain that you
have the planet box checked. Just a thought.

Hi,
This is a screenshot of Celestia when i start it.
It opens with a view of the sun (with a texture) and then goes to the earth view.

(Planet option is checked in the render menu)

thank you

Sorry, no idea what is going on here. Sun is yellow on my system. Are your graphics drivers all up to date?
Perhaps someone else has a better answer for you. I thought you meant that you simply saw a red circle.

Celestia normally pulls its textures from the medres directory first. In fact, I don't have any textures in my hires or lores folders.
I have placed all of my textures (including very large 8k textures) in my medres folder, and all display without problems.
I'm afraid that I am simply not smart enough to understand what is going on with your system there. What are your system specs?
See mine in my signature below. This information would be helpful to someone (smarter than myself  ) else here in order to
help you too.

Thanks, Brain-Dead Bob

I think that you probably just need to upgrade the drivers for your graphics card. If the problem was missing textures, you'd see featureless white globes; red means trouble with OpenGL shaders, which can almost always be solved by installing new graphics card drivers (from either NVIDIA, Intel, or ATI/AMD, depending on which card you have.)

You are right.
I'll update my card with new ATI driver as soon as possible.
And i'll tell you if it fixes the problem.

Thank you :D
