Anim8or Export to CMOD Plug-in

Post #1by BobHegwood » 19.07.2008, 05:45

Just noticed that our very own Selden E. Ball, Jr. has created a useful plug-in script for the freeware Anim8or 3D modeling program.
For more information, go have a look at the Anim8or page describing some new plug-ins available HERE.
Thanks again, Selden. This certainly ought to be a useful addition to us non-genius types.

Bob,

Thanks for the kind words.
Actually it was written some time ago, during your hiatus, I think, and it was announced here, too. See
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10062

You need to be aware that the models that it exports have a different orientation from the equivalent 3DS models. Wanting to do that was one of the reasons I wrote the script.

Sorry, Selden. I was completely unaware of this...
"Hiatus" though? Such a pleasant word used to describe the tortures of Hell and the endless experimentation, testing and artificial prolonging of life.

I wouldn't say that!

In particular, it doesn't do surface normals and tangents properly, so passing the results through cmodfix can improve them significantly.

I don't plan to work on it again in the near future. If someone wants to try to make it do surface normals and tangents, I would be delighted.

I say it is because without it I wouldn't have learned how to make emissive maps for all those star trek models.
I originally used it for the purpose of helping me orient jestr's ships in orbit. After converting one to a CMOD all of the windows and lights started glowing. :)
