Hey! I'm back, and much older. And, that add-on I was working on, I kept working on it. Got the textures to display and I've got the electron shells looking pretty good.

Though I've figured many things out, I haven't yet figured out why every body in the system has a temperature of -1?K (impossible) and how I can make it display a real temperature.

Also, I have a few questions about star-related settings, but I'm going to look around the site and try to answer them myself first.

Well, good to be back, I'll await help for my question...and go grab the periodic table. :D

Temperatures of orbiting bodies are determined by the type of Star they orbit around.

The star's type is O5I-b, I copied it from a star I found in Celestia that was blue and looked particularly nice. It's luminosity is 201x Sol's luminosity, it's surface temperature is 42,500?K, and it's radius is 1.46x Sol's radius.

The first planet's period value is 0.04166666, and, if it matters, it's albedo value is 99.

Also, I'd like to know if I can make the star have a bigger radius. Because, while Silicon is closer to the star than the Moon is to Earth, the star still seems smaller than I'd like it to be.

it's albedo value is 99.

That's your problem. Higher albedos reflect more light.
You need to reduce it to a value between 0 and 1.
1 = perfect reflector. (so object is cold)
0 = perfect absorber. (so object is warm)

In Celestia, higher values are fake: they make objects brighter when they're so distant that they only are a single pixel across.

To make a star whatever size you want, include a Radius value in the STC file.

Ah, thanks Selden!

Right now I've just finished Calcium, so I'll go back and change every albedo value.

I've been wondering now if it's possible to have planets have those multiple designations that stars have in Celestia, like if I were to select Sulfur, and its displayed name appears as "Sulfur / S". If not, I'll probably just make a second body inside the real one, and have the second one have the same properties as the real one, except smaller and with the chemical symbol for its name. Edit: Actually, I might do this anyway, so that one has a choice of typing in the element's name or just typing it's chemical symbol to get to it, since now that I think about it, it'd be very nice not to have to type in the entire name all the time.

And, is it possible to make Celestia display custom info on the info text? Like if I wanted Celestia to tell the average atomic mass of the element right below the line telling the temperature, could I do it?

EDIT: How and where do I put the radius value in the stc file? I tried putting it in, but it didn't work. Celestia kept saying it's radius was 0x Sol.

I've added another star to the system, Elementary B. It orbits around Elementary (A) and has the same solar values as Elementary, and the same orbit values as all the planets. However, it is not doing what I made it to do, which is cast light on the unlit side of the elements. Is there any way to get it to co-operate? I am currently running an older version of Celestia right now, if that's any useful knowledge.

Not to seem indifferent here, but are you aware that there exist documentation for ALL of these questions on the Motherlode?
