Thanks for making Mac OS X builds available.
One suggestion now that we've switched to SVN. SVN has the notion of a revision number: every time a code change is submitted, this number gets incremented. It might be useful to include this number in the filename of the release package so that users know exactly what they're running. When reporting bugs, it's very useful to give the the revision number so that we can tell if the bug is a result of something that was fixed in a newer version.
(Oh . . . the version number should actually be 1.6.0, not 1.5.2.)

Re: Celestia 1.5.2pre for Mac OS X (compiled 4-5-08)
Thanks, Chris. Be happy to do that. To make sure I have it right, you are saying I should put the revision number in the filename such that instead of Celestia.dmg (or Celestia 4-5-08.dmg as I wrote), I should change it to whatever form the revision number takes?
Also,
2) Should I put that number any place else? Or is the filename of the .dmg enough?
3) Where do I find that revision number? I'm not using any kind of SVN client, just downloading the code via OS X's Terminal application.
4) Regarding the "version number" that is 1.6 instead of 1.5.2, were you just referring to the thread name (which I changed) or to something more?
Thanks,
Steve

I think that just putting it in the filename should be fine.

You should be able to simply type 'svn info' in the trunk directory and get the revision number.

The thread name and the text on your site. There probably won't be a Celestia 1.5.2 unless some nasty bug is found in 1.5.1. The versioning scheme for Celestia has changed a bit: if only the third part of the version number changes, it indicates that the new release contains just bug fixes and translation updates. This is more in line with how everyone else assigns version numbers.

Re: Celestia 1.6pre for Mac OS X (compiled 4-5-08)
Thanks, Chris.
I changed to the trunk directory and typed in "svn info" and received this...
...I assume the 4241 is the revision number? Is there a particular form I should use to include that in the filename? Like Celestia 1.6.4241.dmg or something like that?
Thanks,
Steven

BTW Steve, in the menu of Xcode (in the toolbar) you have now the possibility to build a HDR version!

You should test; to resume it's a version simulating the eye reaction to light. The classic example is when looking at a close bright object (or a star) you cannot see the stars around because their light is too weak compared to the object's one...
It would be nice to have more osX feedback because apparently we have some FPS drop not existing on PC...

Should I do both? Or does the HDR version cover it?

Cover what? The normal version is the one you could build more frequently (for now the dev of the HDR version is still quite experimental)...

I meant will the HDR version cover requirements for both - ie. the normal version AND the HDR version (like how you can still play regular analog TV on a digital TV). If that's confusing, don't worry. You answered my question.

Ok, then yes, HDR is supposed to cover the normal stuff + HDR effects implemented. Now no need to build an HDR version on each svn update. Only if significant HDR dev has been done.

Alright...I'll keep shooting out the regular builds. If you want a HDR version, let me know.
