When I view straight down I get 70 + fps and when I look at the horizon like the shots I posted above, I get about 40 to 50 fps.

Welcome to a planet inside the Small Magellanic Cloud.

Image

This was made with Rassilon's globular cluster generator. The SMC contains two star clusters one has 100,000 stars and the other has 50,000.
When I generated the 100,000 star cluster I had the planets option turned on to about 75% and it created a SSC file 90MB in size! There are probably half a million planets in the SMC now.

EDIT: I meant Magellanic! :D

I did something like that once. It's fun to explore all your solar systems =P

No! It's "Megallanic", like Magellan. He's the guy who sailed around the world and reported the existence of the clouds to Europe.
Current Setup:
Windows 7 64 bit. Celestia 1.6.0.
AMD Athlon Processor, 1.6 Ghz, 3 Gb RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

The only problem is it takes a while to load such a large SSC file. At least for my computer it takes a while.

Magellanic is what I meant. I clicked the wrong word in the spell check. lol

I'll show different types of planet I'm doing in my Andromeda Audbeyon Add-on.
Note: I removed clouds to show better the surfaces.

My first post here!(sorry for my English)
Started to use celestia (again), after a few years... hehehee...

The image was not fully 100% from Celestia, even the atmosphere. I shopped it to corect colors.
The texture was from Don Edwards Realistic Earth, cloudmap was from somwhere else.
I intentionally did not use the specular map.

I need a "blue marble photo" with my country in it.

I found this stunning view of Jupiter and Io, while doing some new updates for my educational activities. You get the beauty of Jupiter, erupting volcanoes on Io, a total solar eclipse and the Milky Way all in one shot. :)

I also discovered this great view of backlit Titan. Wow!
