Moon Texture

Post #1by peterhuang913 » 16.03.2008, 15:42

I downloaded the moon textures from here: http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catal ... on_id=1108
I can't seem to get it to work. They all seem to be in the right place. I also restart Celestia.

Did you try right clicking to choose the alternate texture?

When I right-click, there isn't an option for that.

EDIT: I found this thread: http://www.celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12145

I did the steps for where the folders should be but I don't get an Alternate Surfaces option.

Then it hasn't been installed correctly. Sorry, but I tested the thing
and it worked just fine on my machine. I don't think that John has
changed it since I tested it, so you're doing something wrong in the
installation.

Please read the directions carefully.

Thanks, Bob

Moon Texture

Hi,

The addon works perfectly as Bob said, it isn't an "Altsurface" thus right hand click on the mouse doesn't work. The file is a "Modify" so to see whether the file is loading you need to start Celestia then press shift~ you will see in bottom left the files load as you goto the Moon.
Trust this will help.

Sorry, but I guess I didn't explain the add-on correctly. Thanks very
much for your explanation, Derek. It does work correctly though.
Just downloaded and tested it again.

As Derek states, there is no alt-surface option. The CTX file (and all
the levels) are loaded automatically at start-up.

have you read the file in MoonLevel_012.zip called

"ReadMe.txt"

just unzip MoonLevel_012.zip into your celestia directory
then unzip MoonLevel_3.zip into your celestia directory
then unzip MoonLevel_4P1.zip into your celestia directory
then unzip MoonLevel_4P2.zip into your celestia directory
then unzip MoonLevel_4P3.zip into your celestia directory
then unzip MoonLevel_4P4.zip into your celestia directory
then Start Celestia

Well, I suppose I could change that for you, John, but it already states
VERY CLEARLY:

"For more detailed instructions, please view John's ReadMe.txt file
which has been included in the first part of this package."

Hell, if THAT doesn't do it, I don't know that adding the contents of the
file itself is ever going to change anything. <shrug>

Take care, Bob

the description on the ML looks good thanks ,maybe people will read it .

I am beginning to wonder if i made it to easy ? Just unzip. Maybe forcing people to wright the *.ssc in /extras or edit /data/solarsys.ssc will force people to learn something besides " point and click " ie. the Microsoft way

Ulrich and John,

Why do you suppose that we continue to DO this every day?

Aw, never mind. Just a rhetorical question from a grumpy old SOB.
