New ATI radeon HD 3850 AGP :display is very slow

Post #1by Paul Saumane » 10.03.2008, 17:41

I just install that graphic board 512 Mb DDR3 replacing an ATI9800XT 256 Mb and Celestia becomes very slow for all matters. I tested with 1.5.0 final, 1.5.0pre4 and 1.4.1. For all it is the same result.
My config Win XP Pro xpsp_sp2_rtm_040803-2158 (5.1.2600 sp2 Nu 2600) Intel PIV 3Ghz, 2Gb ram(available 1.47Gb). Display 1920x1200, color 32bits, 60Hz.
Graphic card with Catalyst version 2008-0109.2141.3843, microsoft .Net framework 2.0.50727.42, Driver 2D 6.14, Direct 3D 6.14, Open GL 6.14, Driver AIW/VIVO WDM 6.14 Driver AV stream 6.14.

With my old boards it worked nearly perfectly.
Also When I try to display the JMII DDS earth texture, I got a white earth.

Any clue ?

Thanks
P.S.

It sounds like you don't have the ATI OpenGL driver installed and the Microsoft software OpenGL driver is being used instead. If you go to the AMD/ATI website and install the latest driver, everything should work fine.
