Don,

Just wanted to thank you for the resource. It's hard enough to find information concerning Celestia's commands, SSC's, DSC's, STC's, textures, models, and all the other features without some guidance. I *really* appreciate the scripting guide. It makes it one heckuva lot easier to understand what you can do with this great program. I *have* been trying to find scripts, trying to download them, and then trying to see what commands have been used in order to learn the language. (Whew!)

Again, THANK YOU for the guide. Just one note though... You've included commands which will only work with the latest release of Celestia. Is there any reason the latest release is NOT listed on the Shatters Net Main Celestia Page? I'm still using the version you can download from that page. (i.e. - V1.3.0)

Take care, Bob

Howdy Bob,

You are welcome. It's still being worked on, so stay tuned <smile>.

You can get the latest "pre-release" version of Celestia (pre 11) here: http://63.224.48.65/celestia/files/. This version contains a lot of fixes and some new features (like Virtual Textures). It appears to be pretty stable as lots of folks are using it.

[Added...] As for a "reason" why it's not on the main Celestia page -- it is a pre-release and some people don't like to run non-final release versions of programs.

Have fun!

Thanks for this guide. It's very useful. I am filling in some of the blanks as I go. I'll let you know when I have enough to send to you.

Preload textures

hi Don,

thanks for your good work!!
I've been busy for a while with scripts like these. I've found out that preloading of textures is working fine if this command is followed with a "wait" command before a "goto". The duration depends on the size of the textures.

Howdy HB,

Thank you for your input! I had not tested this command yet, so it's good to know it's working.

It sure is nice to see more folks getting involved with Celestia scripting <big smile>!
