I told Cham about the need to add the Sun as comparaison, and Cham kindly agreed to let me issue this modified addon, based mostly on his previous one, that you can find here:

This is the final result of my addon:



It's most important that you copy the new "flares.jpg" image in the "textures" folder, substituting the old one, and the "Planet_Comparaison_mod" folder in the "extras" folder.
If you want, try too the gstar.jpg file you find in the .rar file, it's a bit closer to the real Sun than the default one, IMHO, look here:



If you like, copy it in your "medres" folder.
I've created this as an educational tool, that will be added later to my "The Orrery" addon.

are the pictures taken with Celestia 1.4 ?

There is no flare.jpg anymore, with Celestia 1.5.

Sure, 1.4, sorry I didn't write this, but I still don't use 1.5, at least for this kind of addons, due to the labels-orbits fading that still I have not so clear as I would, and to the following problem, i.e. even if 1.5 has not the flare.jpg, the glare is all there, look:



and I don't like it for this kind of educational purposes.
