Hello,
I'm an admirer and occasional user of Celestia, and hope someone can give me a hand with a simple script.
I'm preparing a presentation about comets, and I'd like to show how their orbits are highly inclined with respect to the ecliptic and the rest of the planets' orbits. A 20-second animation would be GREAT.
Could anyone please help me write this script?
Here's what I envision:
Set a date
Go to a location around 50 to 100 AU from the Sun, 10 to 30 AU up from the ecliptic.
Then look toward the Sun
Crank up the passage of time to 1,000,000x or 10,000,000x
Turn on planet orbits (except for Pluto's, since it's tilted so far and I don't want to explain in this presentation - plus it's not a "planet" anymore...)
Watch the planets orbiting the Sun for 5 seconds
Turn on comet orbits, maybe highlight one of them (Halley?)
Watch the comet come in and out of the ecliptic
I think that's about it! Would anyone be willing to help me with this? Please feel free to e-mail me directly: adandler [at] yahoo [dot] com
Thank you!
